The Alliance for Sustainable Cocoa aims to ensure that cocoa production becomes more environmentally and economically sustainable in Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Cameroon. The event will focus specifically on how scientific knowledge and evidence can support the initiative and can inform the related policy dialogue. It will have two parts: first, two scientific experts will give complimentary presentations on 1) the contribution of satellite imagery to map and monitor agriculture and forest cover and 2) the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices in cocoa production. The second part of the event will consist of a moderated panel of representatives from the public and private sector, civil society and producer organizations to discuss how research findings can be discussed and incorporated into the development of relevant policies and initiatives.
