Dear colleagues, partners, and friends,
Welcome to the first 2025 newsletter of The Pan-African Network for economic Analysis of Policies (PANAP)!
1. News & events
4th PANAP General Assembly
On 17 October, PANAP organised its 4th Pan-African Network for economic Analysis of Policies (PANAP) General Assembly (GA), the highest decision-making governance level of the Network. The GA was opened by the speeches by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) Executive Director Aggrey AGUMYA, African Union Commission (AUC) Director for Rural Development, Blue Economy, and Sustainable Environment Godfrey BAHIGWA and JRC Director for Sustainable Resources Alessandra ZAMPIERI.
The main objective of the GA was to bring members of the network together to take stock of activities of the network since the previous GA, and discuss the way forward towards achieving the objectives of the Network. The meeting gave the chance to share updates on PANAP’s achievements and progress since its previous meeting in 2023, inform and present emerging opportunities such as the International Research Consortium and the Regional Multi-actor Research Networks (RMRN) to members, and provide information on upcoming events.
During the day, the members discussed two main topics introduced by two keynote speeches: Science and Policy (Dr Tinashe KAPUYA – The Regional Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ReNAPRI) Research Director) and Trade and Food Security (Dr Diana AKULLO OGWAL - African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat).
Finally, the GA gave the opportunity to discuss, present and adopt the PANAP charter with the aim of allowing the platform to accept new members to the network, increase its visibility and facilitate knowledge sharing among members.
Detailed workshop agenda can be found here.
