Open source software for combining modelling and analytics software.

On-line from 2017, the data portal of agro-economic modelling, DataM, is based on a software framework that combines specialistic software for modelling with a platform for business analytics.

The publication of dashboards in DataM for the visual self-analysis of data, is just the final outcome resulting from the synergy of modelling and businnes intelligence software.

This combined approach is used first internally for the preparation of the model, then for sharing results with policy makers, then for the preparation of visuals for the publications, and finally for the web dissemination.

Recently, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission enhanced its capacity to combine modelling and analytics tools with the development of a data connector between the two most used platforms of those kind, in the context of the economic analysis of agriculture and sustainable resources.

DataM is glad to announce that with European Commission´s Decision C(2020)/2911 of 29/04/2020, the G2Q connector is released open source at https://github.com/ec-jrc/G2Q

Despite the connector is tailored on two specific software platforms, the authors hope that the open availability of this artefact can stimulate the combined usage of modelling and analytics platforms within scientific circuits, and the development, open or private, of similar connectors for similar platforms of other vendors.
